FlyBy Aviation Academy offers 0 to ATPL training in just 14 months. That means we take students with little or no knowledge of aviation and provide them with all of the training required so they are ready to join a commercial airline upon graduation to work as a professional pilot. Many flight schools take a lot longer so here are some of the reasons we are able to provide the pilot licence allowing you to fly for a commercial airline in such a short period of time.
There are a few different factors that allow our graduates to complete their studies and gain their Airline Transport Pilot Licence in such a short time. Firstly, we are blessed with excellent weather for flying in Spain. With an average of over 300 flying days each year we can take to the skies almost every day.
Secondly, we have a large fleet of 21 modern aircraft and a team of highly trained flight instructors ready to take to the skies whenever possible. Due to our location in Burgos, Spain we have a quiet airspace above us and an international airport to fly from. You will often see our students flying overhead in a Tecnam, PS28 Cruiser or a Cessna. There are only a couple of commercial flights that come into and out of Burgos International Airport each week, the rest of the time it’s just us! Some flight schools are severely restricted as to where they can fly and when they can fly due to their proximity to busy airspace.
In order to keep our fleet of aircraft in great shape we have our own team of qualified mechanics who work exclusively for us in our modern hangar. They run a very disciplined schedule ensuring there won’t be any delays caused by the maintenance checks and upgrades. Lots of schools use external mechanics and find themselves being put into a queue of orders. We know that we can always rely on our team of mechanics and we can arrange the schedule of maintenance to ensure we have all the aircraft that are needed available.
There are some schools which will require you to complete all of your theoretical training and exams before they even allow you to touch an aircraft. Not here at FlyBy Aviation Academy. Once you have completed your two month foundation stage, you will begin your theoretical ATPL training alongside starting your flying lessons. By the end of the third or fourth month most of our students are already at the stage where they have completed their solo and are flying an aircraft on their own!
Being able to do theoretical and practical training at the same time allows you to make better use of the time you spend at flight school and also will benefit you when the time comes to join an airline. On the rare occasion that we have a day where we are not able to fly because of the weather, our students are still able to make the most of that day by studying for the next upcoming exam or lesson. There is never a day completely wasted just waiting for your next flight.
When the time comes to join an airline, it is very important that your theoretical knowledge is up-to-date and still fresh in your mind. If you have completed all of your examinations 8 to 12 months before your technical interview at an airline, you might struggle recalling the information.
The sooner you can graduate after completing your exams, the easier you will find the application process for the airlines.
